Privacy Policy

FakeOrLegit (“we”, “our”, “us”) is an independent scam-risk analysis tool operated by Aura Bionics Inc., a company incorporated in the Province of Ontario, Canada. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use fakeorlegit.io, how we use it, and the choices you have.
What we collect
- URLs you check. When you submit a URL, we store the hostname (the domain part of the URL), a SHA-256 hash of the full submitted URL, and the resulting risk report. We use this to power our domain-level cache and to improve detection.
- Messages you check. We do not store the raw text of submitted emails or messages. We store only a SHA-256 hash of the text (for de-duplication) and the resulting risk report.
- Technical metadata. Standard server logs from our hosting providers (IP address, user agent, timestamps). We use these for security, rate limiting, and abuse prevention.
What we do not collect
- We do not require an account, login, or email address to use the checker.
- We do not store the raw text of suspicious messages.
- We do not sell user data to third parties.
Third-party processors
To run FakeOrLegit, we use the following service providers as data processors:
- Vercel - hosting and serverless infrastructure
- Supabase - managed Postgres database
- OpenAI - AI risk analysis (we pass the URL or message text plus our heuristic signals; OpenAI's data-handling terms apply)
- Resend - transactional email (only if you contact us)
Cookies
FakeOrLegit does not set advertising or tracking cookies. We may use a minimal first-party cookie for anti-abuse / rate-limiting purposes. If we add analytics in the future, this section will be updated.
Your rights
Because we do not collect personal accounts, there is typically nothing to identify you by. If you believe a result page references content you submitted and you want it removed, contact hello@fakeorlegit.io and we will review the request.
Changes
We may update this policy as the product evolves. Material changes will be announced on the site.
